Thanksgiving Baskets
Each year, low-income families receive food and grocery gift certificates that allow them to enjoy a bountiful Thanksgiving. The community generously donates the food and gift certificates to the Gardner Multi-Service Center to be distributed to families in need.
My family needs some food for Thanksgiving. What should I do?
Call the Gardner Multi-Service Center, (913) 856-7405, as soon as possible to find out whether your family is eligible. It is a good idea to contact the Gardner Multi-Service Center by the beginning of November to ensure participation in the program. You will need proof of income, proof of residency, and Social Security cards.

Donations of food, food baskets, and gift certificates are always welcome. You may also sponsor a family for Thanksgiving. Call the Gardner Multi-Service Center for full details.
Christmas for Children ProgramThe Gardner Multi-Service Center works with community volunteers to help Gardner/Edgerton families in need enjoy a memorable Christmas. The Gardner Multi-Service Center coordinates the Mayor's Christmas for Children Program, matching families in need with individuals, families, groups, and organizations wishing to provide Christmas gifts and Christmas dinner to those less fortunate.
Am I eligible for Christmas assistance?
In order to be sponsored for Christmas, you must:
1. Live in the Gardner/Edgerton School District.
2. Meet the income guidelines.
3. Provide Social Security cards for everyone in the household.
4. Not apply or receive assistance from any other agency for Christmas.
If your family meets the above guidelines, contact the Gardner Multi-Service Center to register and complete a wish list for your family. It is a good idea to contact the Gardner Multi-Service Center by the beginning of November to register for the program. Every family that needs assistance will receive food and at least one gift for each child under 16.
How do I sponsor a family?
Contact the Gardner Multi-Service Center as early as possible to be registered as a donor. Every effort will be made to match you or your organization with the family of your preference while keeping identifiable information confidential. You will be provided with a wish list for each family. As a donor, you have the pleasure of providing gifts for each child 16 and younger. All items are delivered to the Gardner Multi-Service Center, and the sponsored families pick them up here. For further details, please call the Gardner Multi-Service Center, (913) 856-7405.
