What do seniors do for fun? Plenty, according to an unscientific poll in the Manhattan area. Where are some of the answers I got to the question “What do you do for fun?”
Evelyn: Make scrapbooks for my grandchildren.
Ramona: Work on the genealogy of my family. Travel.
Robert: Watch TV.
Opal: Read a lot. Go to auctions.
Phil: Get on my tractor and work.
Abbie: Visit people.
Bill: Travel. Talk to people on my short wave radio.
Mildred: Play bingo and cards. Visit.
Paul: Listen to Talking Books. Go on rides with the kids when they take us to interesting places.
Wanetta: Make quilts out of scraps.
Fred: Run some cattle. Write my life story. Read. Go to interesting historic places.
Dixie: Play Pitch and Pinochle. Go to the square dance club.
Paul: Study investments on my computer.
Marie: Travel. Go to dance club. Work in the yard and flower garden.
John: Watch TV.
Zelda: Grow flowers.
Don: Get in the camper and go to places in Kansas and other states. This is such a beautiful country!
Jim: Write the family history.
Frances: Read.
Kathern: Reminisce.
Jim: Fly my airplane.
Lois: Visit with friends. Have company. Be with the grandchildren. Visit with people—even strangers.
Eldon: Look at antique tractors—and my old cows, they’re all pets.
Dorothy: Play cards and garden.
Ralph: Watch TV.
Rosalie: Work on scrapbooks. Enjoy friends who get together for meals and visiting.
Joe: Volunteer at the American Legion and with the Forty and Eight Boxcar Project.
Pat: Sewing. Riding the horse. Walking the dog. Gardening.
Fun is in the mind and heart of the person doing it. What do you do for fun? Be sure you can answer this question.
